Orano Canada
is a subsidiary of the French nuclear energy company Orano Group. Our presence in Canada began with uranium exploration in the 1960s and the development of the Cluff Lake mine in the 1980s. It continued with mines and a mill at McClean Lake and partnerships in several other sites in the Athabasca Basin, such as the Cigar Lake mine. Today, Orano employs about 450 people in Saskatchewan, with many employees and contractors from northern communities.
The company's activities in Canada include uranium mining, milling, and remediation of legacy sites. Orano's Canadian operations are focused in northern Saskatchewan, where it operates the McClean Lake uranium mill and the Cigar Lake mine, one of the world's highest-grade uranium mines. The company is also involved in the exploration and development of other uranium deposits in the region. Additionally, Orano is committed to environmental stewardship and community engagement in its Canadian operations.
