The Nokiiwin Tribal Council is a regional Indigenous governing body located in northwestern Ontario, Canada. It was established in 1983 to represent the interests of six Anishinaabe First Nations in the region: Animbiigoo Zaagi'igan Anishinaabek, Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek, Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek, Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabek, Lac Des Mille Lacs First Nation, and Pic Mobert First Nation. The council's mandate is to promote the collective interests and rights of its member First Nations, as well as to facilitate cooperation and communication among them. The council provides a range of services to its members, including advocacy, community planning, economic development, health services, and education. One of the key priorities of the Nokiiwin Tribal Council is to strengthen the capacity of its member First Nations to govern themselves effectively and to promote self-determination. The council also works to promote environmental sustainability and to protect the rights of Indigenous peoples in the region.
