First Atlantic Nickel & Cobalt Corp. (TSXV: FAN | OTCQB: FANCF | FSE: P21) is a Canadian critical-minerals explorer developing the 100%-owned Pipestone XL Nickel-Cobalt Alloy Project in central Newfoundland – the largest nickel-cobalt and chromium discovery in the Atlantic in 30 years.
The project covers an entire 30-kilometre ophiolite belt where nickel occurs as awaruite (Ni3Fe), a rare, naturally magnetic nickel–iron–cobalt alloy grading roughly 75–77% nickel that is sulphur-free and can be concentrated by magnetic separation, bypassing the midstream smelting bottleneck. Electron microprobe work at the RPM Zone returned awaruite averaging 77.62% nickel and 1.69% cobalt, with a second large-scale target, the Alloy Max Zone, ~7 km north of RPM.
