As a trader, I view Cerrado Gold as a hybrid play: it’s already generating strong near-term cash flow from gold production, while also offering tier-1 scale upside through its critical mineral and iron ore development pipeline. At its current valuation, the market is not pricing in the full optionality of Lagoa Salgada or Mont Sorcier.

That’s the kind of asymmetrical setup I like to own: downside anchored by cash flow, upside driven by project development and rerating catalysts.

1. High Cash Flow, Low Dilution Model

Cerrado is generating robust free cash flow of approximately 25 million U.S. dollars annually from its Minera Don Nicolas mine in Argentina at a gold price of 2,100 U.S. dollars per ounce. What makes this especially attractive is the company’s ability to fund development from internal cash flow—a rare feat among juniors. That means limited dilution for shareholders, which is a key metric I look for when building positions.

2. Steady Gold Production with Expansion Potential

Minera Don Nicolas is producing about 55,000 ounces per year through 2028, and the company is aggressively pursuing exploration and underground development to expand that base. With a large, underexplored land package in the prolific Deseado Massif, Cerrado is only scratching the surface of its gold potential. It reminds me of early-stage Cerro Negro or Cerro Vanguardia—proven mines that saw explosive resource growth post-discovery.

3. Critical Mineral Leverage via Lagoa Salgada

Cerrado’s Lagoa Salgada project in Portugal provides exceptional leverage to critical metals including zinc, copper, and tin, all of which are fundamental to the energy transition. A Feasibility Study has already demonstrated a post-tax NPV of 147 million U.S. dollars and an IRR of 39%, with first production expected in 2027. Financing is already supported by UKEF and Santander, so there’s a clear path to value realization.

4. Optionality in Green Iron via Mont Sorcier

Mont Sorcier in Quebec is a multi-billion-dollar iron ore asset, advancing toward a Bankable Feasibility Study with a projected post-tax NPV of 1.6 billion U.S. dollars. The project is focused on producing green, high-purity Direct Reduction Iron concentrate, which aligns perfectly with the global shift to green steel. This is the kind of future-facing optionality that can radically re-rate a stock once market conditions align.

Cerrado’s management team, led by Mark Brennan, has a proven track record of building mines and delivering shareholder value. This is not their first rodeo—they’ve already delivered multi-bagger returns on other ventures like Largo Resources and Desert Sun.
